About My Story
Why the name 1:17 Photography? I have been asked this question quite often. 1:17 is the reference for a Bible verse found in the book of James: "Every good and perfect gift is from God above." As I was contemplating names of this business, this verse kept coming to my mind. I am not only a photographer, but a mother of two of the most precious gifts I have ever received, my son and daughter. As a parent, I have come to realize that one of the most amazing gifts that we ever receive in this lifetime is our children. There is no doubt that these children are a gift from God.
If you are around me for any length of time, you'll likely hear me talk about my favorites: the beach, coffee, donuts, sunsets, puppies, my husband aka my high school sweetheart, and my children. All of these bring me joy beyond words! And at least once a year, I get to have all of my favorites in one place at one time (except for puppies!) when we travel to the beach, have my coffee and donuts on the balcony overlooking the ocean, spending my day with my three favorite people, and then ending the day with the perfect beach sunset surrounded by my family. Yep...those are the BEST days!
Photography has always been a fascination to me. Taking photographs of children seemed so natural to me after spending ten years as a teacher and after-school care director. I love to watch children discover their world and documenting their faces with my camera has become one of the most satisfying and amazing things I have ever accomplished. As my own children grew, I began to photograph high school Seniors as well and found another true love! Seniors are among my most favorite sessions as it's just such an exciting time of life to document.
Thank you for taking the time to look at 1:17 Photography for your portraits. Come see me and let's talk. I'd love to hear about your favorite things and capture memories with the ones that bring you the most joy and are your most treasured gifts from God!
I hope that we will have the opportunity to meet soon!
